[Labor account book] 1833-1869.

A volume used by an unidentified person, possibly Enoch Wood, to record work done for various individuals. Jobs included pruning trees, drilling, hauling wood, and splitting rocks as well as the use of oxen. The volume also records work done for the town of Manchester, Maine, including serving as a selectman, doing valuations, etc. A few invoices for work done are also included in the collection.

Enoch Wood was a ship captain, most likely living in Boxford, Massachusetts, and engaged in the coastal and transatlantic trades between 1824 and 1845. Vessels he sailed upon included the ships MOGUL, CHATHAM, NORMAN, CHARIOT, GEORGE CABOT, and ALABAMA; as well as the brig KREMLIN.
